It took the intervention of Mr Sponsler to place the troop into two adjoining camp sites.

Camp Chawanakee, on any map, looks to be a peninsula sticking like a wide finger into Shaver Lake from the south side of the lake. The location of the troop camp sites are at the base of this finger and on the west side of the peninsula. The troop campsite is on a gentle hill so there are a number of two to three tents clustered together where the hill allows tents to be erected. Part of the hill is shown to be a barren rock surface and from this high point one can get a view of the lake below. The view is most impressive.

The final camp site location for the troop is as follows:
  • The scout campsite: YUKI (shown in images below). This site is made up of two to four tents in clusters dotted around a gentle hillside. Over this hill, to the west, is the lake. The lake is quite close to the camp site. This site has trees but a lot of open sky to offer more warmth during the day. Just about every bed in this camp has been serviced with new springs.
  • Adult camp site: TAH-HEETCH (no images taken) is at the bottom of the hill and quite dark due to a lot of trees shading the campsite.

This image shows the higher campsite occupied by the scouts.

The above image shows a cluster of tents near the top of the hill.

The image above shows the view of the inlet of water to the west of the troop camp site. This is a really short walk down from where the scouts have their tents. If you look closely there is a fishing boat, right of center.
